Sketchnoting on the ThinkPad X1 Yoga

I’ve been trying to pick up sketchnoting for a while now. On and off on my ThinkPad Helix previously and mostly on OneNote. Now with the X1 Yoga, it’s a light enough device that i can actually leisurely hold in on my lap and proceed to doodle. I can’t do this for too long though because the fan would blow right on my leg and it tends to get quite hot. I’m thinking of getting one of those IKEA laptop pillows to see if that’s comfortable.

With windows 10 , the apps have also become more stable. I’m not sure if it has to do with this machine’s 16GB ram but it’s a lot less crashtastic than my Helix so I’ve gotten a chance to play with sketchnotes using various apps. I’ve created some pros and cons for each of the apps that I’ve used more frequently. They’re sorted below according to frequency of use. The big downside that i forgot to write on one note is the final note sharing. there doesn’t seem to be a straightforward way to export to hi-res png on the desktop version.

Also, because the built in pen that comes with the machine gets a little uncomfortable when used extensively, I bought the Bamboo Smart (version for select tablets and 2-in-1 convertible devices) //i know, whatta name. I find that the barrel of the pen very slippery so I’ve resorted to wrapping the area where I grip with scotch tape to get some friction. ^_^
